“We don’t have boundaries,” Gal says. “Everyone talks about work-life balance. We have work-life integration . Chanel sleeps on my couch when she’s between apartments. I edit her audition tapes. We fight about exposure and shutter speed the way couples fight about dishes.” Chanel nods

“Most brands come with a PDF,” Gal says, pulling up her phone to show me. “Color palette. Three keywords. A shot list. We throw it away.”

Chanel, seated across from her, laughs. “And I’m trying to make her break. She wants me still. I refuse.”
