S05E05 (“A Lock-In, a Weather Girl, and a Disgusting Habit”) continues Young Sheldon ’s shift toward more mature family drama. The lock-in at church gives Sheldon a chance to be his usual logical-but-socially-awkward self, while Mary and George’s tension simmers in the background. Missy gets some of the best lines again, and Meemaw’s subplot adds a nice lighter touch. Not the funniest episode of the season, but the character work is strong.
