Pitt is clearly having a blast. He leans into the comedic role with deadpan bitterness, and his real-life (at the time) off-screen tension with Jennifer Aniston adds delicious subtext. His character’s seething hatred for Rachel is absurdly funny, culminating in the line: “I just think it’s so great that someone like you is still single… someone who’s… so … so…” (trailing off while Ross mouths “horrible”).
