1. Overview Nariyath Swalath (also spelled Nariyath Swalah , Nāriyathu Svālāth ) is a famous Malayalam Islamic devotional poem (known as Madh or Swalath ). It is widely recited in mosques, madrasas , and during Mawlid (birthday of Prophet Muhammad) gatherings among Muslims in Kerala, particularly those following the Shafi'i school of thought and the Sunni (Qadiri, Rifai, etc.) traditions .

The word Swalath (صلوۃ) means "salutation" or "blessing upon the Prophet." Nariyath refers to the locality or family lineage associated with the poem's author or popularizer. The poem is attributed to Sayyid Muhammed al-Aydarus ibn Sheikh Abu Bakr al-Aydarus (commonly known as Nariyath Thangal or Nariyath Sayyid ), a renowned Sufi saint and scholar who lived in the 19th–20th century.
