Nintendo uses the "Uncanny Valley" effect here. He looks human enough to recognize the tragedy, but wrong enough to trigger a fight-or-flight response. The way his fingers twitch when you get close? The way his ribcage expands just slightly , as if he’s remembering how to breathe? It wasn’t a cutscene

And that is infinitely worse.

Not a monster. Not a pig-demon. A mummy.
