Long ago, in the heart of a kingdom called Devgarh , nestled between the Vindhya mountains and a river of molten gold, lived a powerful fairy named Maleficent . But in the local tongue, she was known as Kaali Aag (Black Fire)—not because she was evil, but because her magic burned brighter and deeper than any royal flame.

Maleficent began secretly watching the girl. One day, young Aurora wandered into the Kaali Aag grove. Instead of screaming, the girl touched a wounded chidiya (bird) and said, "Dard mat do, didi." Maleficent, hiding behind a babool tree, felt something crack in her chest—not her bones, but the pathar (stone) around her heart.
