A vasectomy, also known as male sterilization or "getting a tube tied," is a surgical procedure for male birth control and/or permanent sterilization. The procedure involves cutting or blocking the vas deferens, the tubes that carry sperm from the testicles to the penis. This prevents sperm from leaving the testicles and, as a result, prevents pregnancy.
