Set against the backdrop of the 1999 Kargil War, Lakshya follows Karan Shergill (Hrithik Roshan), a privileged but directionless Delhi youth who lacks any "aim" (lakshya) in life. After failing to impress his army officer father and losing his girlfriend, Romila (Preity Zinta), to a more ambitious man, Karan joins the Indian Military Academy (IMA) on a whim. Through rigorous training and the mentorship of a tough but fair commanding officer (Amitabh Bachchan), Karan transforms into a disciplined officer. He eventually leads his troops in the treacherous peaks of Kargil, finally discovering his purpose and courage.
If you are feeling lost in life, Lakshya is therapy. It teaches that failure isn't falling down, but refusing to stand up again.

Lakshya is a slow-burn character study disguised as a war epic. While the first half meanders through Karan’s privileged laziness, the second half delivers some of the most stunning war cinematography ever shot in India (actual Kargil locations). Hrithik Roshan delivers a career-best nuanced performance, shedding his "Greek God" image for raw vulnerability. Preity Zinta is competent as the catalyst for his change, and Amitabh Bachchan’s cameo is magnetic. Set against the backdrop of the 1999 Kargil
Revisiting the masterpiece that is Lakshya (2004) – a film not just about war, but about finding your own peak and climbing it, no matter how late you start.
