Full disclosure: This review is based on observation of three regional Junior Miss pageants and interviews with former contestants, judges, and child psychologists.

The "Junior Miss" division is designed to bridge the gap between child and teen competitions. Contestants, typically aged 10-14, are judged on categories including: evening gown, interview, fitness/physique (often in sportswear), and sometimes a "talent" or "on-stage question."
