For where can you find the most absolute heterotopia? Not in museums (where time accumulates), not in cemeteries (where eternity rests), but on the ship. It goes as far as the colonies, seeking the treasure that lies at the ends of the earth. It is the ark, the vessel, the errant container of all dreams.
We live in a world of heterotopias. The cinema screen, the festival grounds, the motel room, the prison, the library during the night—each one bends our sense of time and space into a different shape.
