The unauthorized recording and redistribution of live-streamed adult content—often hosted on so-called “cam ripping” or “leak” sites—raises urgent questions about digital consent, user privacy, and platform accountability. This paper examines the technical and social mechanisms that enable non-consensual pornography (NCP) distribution, with a focus on the role of passive viewers in perpetuating demand. Drawing on legal analysis (Section 230, Article 8 of the GDPR, and the Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies (EARN IT) Act debates), content moderation studies, and victim impact research, we argue that current content removal frameworks are insufficient. The paper concludes with policy recommendations for mandatory watermarks on live adult platforms, real-time hashing databases for consent revocation, and viewer-side deterrents such as educational click-interstitials on known NCP domains.
