Blocked Tear Duct In Cats [portable] -

Blocked Tear Duct In Cats [portable] -

A blocked tear duct (nasolacrimal duct obstruction) is a common eye condition in cats where the normal drainage system for tears becomes partially or completely obstructed. This leads to excessive tearing, often visible as a brownish or reddish discharge staining the fur below the eyes. How Normal Tear Drainage Works Tears are produced by glands around the eye to keep the cornea moist and clean. Normally, excess tears drain through two tiny openings (puncta) located at the inner corner of the upper and lower eyelids. From there, tears travel through the nasolacrimal duct and exit into the nose and throat.
