While the title evokes memories of the iconic Kamal Haasan starrer Avvai Shanmugi (where he played the character "Arunachalam"), this film is a completely original story centered on a gold-loving protagonist. The story revolves around Arunachalam (played by Kreshna), a middle-class young man with an obsessive love for gold. His life takes a dramatic turn when he inadvertently gets entangled with a powerful and corrupt politician, Singa Perumal (played by Yogi Babu), who has a hidden agenda involving illegal gold smuggling.
