This is the story of how those two cities went to war, and how a single night of thievery shattered the bond between two sisters. In the undercity of Zaun, two orphaned sisters, Vi (the fierce, protective older sister) and Powder (the small, anxious, brilliant-but-cursed younger sister), survive under the care of their adoptive father, Vander . Vander is the wise, burly owner of The Last Drop tavern and the de facto leader of the Lanes, a man who fought a bloody war against Piltover years ago and lost. He now preaches peace to keep his people alive.
Inside the chamber, Jayce, Mel, Viktor (now barely human), and the other councilors are voting. Jayce is just about to announce the peace treaty: Zaun’s independence in exchange for Jinx. Mel, sensing something wrong, looks up.
