Abstract Firmware updates are critical for maintaining measurement accuracy, adding features, and resolving known defects in Agilent (now Keysight Technologies) test and measurement equipment. This paper details standard procedures for downloading and installing firmware across common Agilent platforms (Infiniium oscilloscopes, PNA network analyzers, MXA signal analyzers). It covers pre-update checks, file transfer methods (LAN, USB, GPIB), recovery from power-loss interruptions, and validation techniques. Best practices for avoiding bricked devices are emphasized. 1. Introduction Agilent Technologies (spun off from Hewlett-Packard in 1999 and later rebranded as Keysight in 2014) produced a wide range of electronic test instruments. These instruments rely on embedded firmware stored in flash memory. Manufacturers periodically release firmware updates as .bin , .cab , or .exe packages.
