4: Story Building

No elevator is the biggest con. Moving in/out is a logistical puzzle, and delivery drivers will sigh when they see the address. Fire safety is adequate (smoke detectors and extinguishers on each landing), but a single stairwell means evacuation in an emergency could get congested. Also, the 4th floor gets noticeably warmer in summer, and water pressure on the top floor can be weak during peak hours.

The separation of uses is excellent. Ground-floor commercial spaces (a small café and a laundromat in my case) add convenience without causing excessive noise for residents on floors 2–4. The stairwell is wide and well-lit, with sturdy railings. Acoustics are decent—footsteps from above are noticeable but not thunderous, and street noise fades by floor 3. The roof access on the 4th floor is a huge bonus, offering a private-feeling outdoor space. 4 story building
